The Golden Retriever (English: Golden Retriever) is a medium-to-large hound bred for hunting and shooting. The name "retrieval dog" refers to the breed's stable character, small bite force, and gentleness. It can bite objects without damaging them. It is suitable for helping hunters retrieve killed prey (usually birds). A breed derived from a water spaniel cross, the Golden Retriever loves to swim and is intelligent and docile, easily trained to basic or advanced obedience standards. They are a long-furred breed with a thick undercoat that provides adequate warmth outdoors. Golden Retrievers are well suited to living in suburban or rural settings. Their fur sheds a lot, especially during seasonal changes, and requires fairly regular grooming. Golden Retrievers were originally bred in Scotland in the mid-19th century. This breed appears frequently in purebred dog shows, companion dogs, and pet movies. Golden Retrievers are popular as assistance dogs for people with disabilities, such as guide dogs for the blind and hearing dogs for the deaf. In addition, they are trained to be hunting dogs, detection dogs and search and rescue participants. The breed's friendly, gentle temperament means it is not suited to being a professional guard dog, but its temperament has also made it the third most popular family dog breed in the United States and Canada, fifth in Brazil and Australia, and eighth in the United Kingdom. Golden Retrievers are rarely picky eaters but require adequate (two hours or more per day) exercise. Golden Retrievers love to play but are highly trainable. It is a relatively modern and very popular dog breed.
