How to choose a cat litter box: three hard criteria for size, quantity and placement

The length of the litter box should be at least 1.5 times the length of the cat, plus one for the number of cats.
Size comes first. Most closed litter boxes on the market are barely enough for small cats, but not enough for big cats like Maine Coon and Orange cats. Judgment criteria: The cat can turn around completely in the basin, stand upright and dig sand without sticking its head out.
The quantity is calculated as "number of cats + 1". If two cats are placed in only one basin, one of them must be holding it in and go to the hospital. In multi-cat households, be careful not to place the basins close to each other, as the cats will regard them as sharing the same toilet.
Place them away from feeding areas and corridors with high traffic. Cats are in a vulnerable state when going to the toilet and need a location where they can see their surroundings but are not easily approached suddenly. Open sand basins with high sides are usually better than fully enclosed ones.
