Catnip and Timberwort: Why some cats don’t respond at all

About 30% of cats are not allergic to catnip, which is genetically determined.
The nepetalactone in catnip will bind to the cat's olfactory receptors, causing reactions such as rolling, rubbing the face, and drooling, which last for five to fifteen minutes, followed by a refractory period of one to two hours.
The strength of the response is genetically determined, with approximately 30% of adult cats showing no response at all, and kittens rarely responding before three months of age. No response does not mean that it is unhappy. You can try changing it to Wooden Polygonum or Silver Vine.
The recommended usage is to control the frequency, once or twice a week, with a small amount each time.长期连续暴露会让猫逐渐失去兴趣。 The powder is more irritating than the dry leaves and is safer to sprinkle on a scratching post or toy than to lick it directly.
