How to choose cat food: reading the first four lines of the label

The top five ingredients determine the lower limit of this bag of grain.
Ingredient list is in descending order by weight. The first place is that specific meat (chicken, turkey, salmon) is considered qualified, "poultry meat" and "animal by-products" are of unknown origin, and "cereals" and "corn" are ranked first, which means the source of protein is questionable.
Crude protein content: The recommended dry food for healthy adult cats is above 32%, and for kittens is above 35%. If the grain content is less than 28%, it is easy to cause muscle mass loss if eaten for a long time. Crude fat 15% to 20% is a common range.
Note that taurine must appear in the ingredient list. Cats themselves cannot synthesize sufficient amounts of taurine. Deficiency can lead to dilated cardiomyopathy and retinal degeneration. Regular cat food will add extra taurine.
Use a seven-day transition method for food replacement: 25% new food on days 1 to 2, 50% on days 3 to 4, 75% on days 5 to 6, and full replacement on the seventh day. The price of an emergency food change is usually two days of soft stools and one carpet cleaning.
