Plant blacklist for families with cats: These flowers can really kill you

The entire Liliaceae family is poisonous, including pollen and vase water.

Common plants that are clearly toxic to cats include: lilies, tulips, narcissus, pothos, monstera, dieffenbachia, rhododendron, oleander, aloe vera, ivy, and lucky bamboo. Among them, lilies have the highest risk level. Even just licking pollen or drinking vase water may cause acute kidney failure.

Symptoms of poisoning include drooling, vomiting, listlessness, unsteady walking, and convulsions. If you find that you have accidentally eaten it, take a photo of the plant immediately and take the remaining samples to the emergency room. Do not induce vomiting on your own.

Varieties that can be raised safely include: cat grass (wheat grass, oat grass), arrowroot, Boston fern, rosemary, and basil. If you really want to have greenery in your home, a cat litter box is the most worry-free solution.

Pay special attention to bouquets during the holidays. When receiving flowers, confirm the variety first, and if you are unsure, place them in a room where cats cannot enter.
